Tianwai Zhou Technology uses its own first-party, basic site analytics to understand trends across public pages and document downloads. A first-party random browser ID (labelled an “anonymous browser” in aggregate reporting) is used to distinguish browsers approximately. It does not contain a name or contact details, but it remains a technical identifier: we do not describe the resulting data as completely anonymous or use it to establish your real identity.
Information recorded
When your browser allows basic analytics, a page-view or download event may include:
- a first-party random browser ID generated and stored by this site;
- the event type, such as a public page view or document download click;
- the public page path without query parameters or a hash, the page title and page language;
- the referring host, rather than the full referring URL;
- the download address without query parameters and the file name; and
- the time at which the event is received by the server.
Information not written to analytics events
Our analytics event records do not store IP addresses, a full User-Agent, page query parameters, page hashes or a full referrer. Referrers are reduced to their host, and query parameters are removed from page and download addresses before they are recorded.
Browser controls
If your browser has Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) enabled and exposes that signal to the page, this site does not initiate the analytics collection described above.
The random browser ID is held in this site’s local browser storage. Clearing this site’s stored data removes the ID. A new ID will be generated on a later visit if analytics is allowed.
Retention and purpose
The locally stored browser ID rotates after approximately 200 days, and analytics events are also cleared on an approximately 200-day schedule. The information is used to understand overall content and download trends; it should not be interpreted as proof of a particular person’s identity or an exact count of people.
We do not use a third-party cross-site analytics service for this basic measurement. If you have a question about this notice, please contact us through the project enquiry page.
